GAMBA Playgroup is held every Wednesday during school terms, from 9:30am to 11am in the Horizon Room, at the rear of Western Heights Uniting Church, 31 Douglass Street, Herne Hill.
All GAMBA members are welcome to attend playgroup including siblings of multiples and expectant parents of multiples. Our playgroup provides a safe, warm, fun, stimulating and creative environment for pre-schoolers and their parents. We encourage all new parents to come along, have a cuppa and escape the daily routine for an hour or two.
We have a baby area with lots of bright stimulating toys catering for this age group. Each week, different activities are set up for families to enjoy. The facility has carpet with both heating and cooling. Outside the children can also enjoy the fantastic fenced area with play equipment and large sandpit.
Each fortnight, we offer a Hey Dee Ho Music program delivered by a qualified facilitator. These sessions are held in a separate room and there are normally two groups (10am to 10:30am and 10:30am to 11am). Families can attend whichever session suits, and when not participating in the session, children can keep playing in the main room. Sessions cater for babies in arms up to 5 years old. The program is based on a variety of themes, involving singing, drama, movement to music, puppets and musical instruments. Some sessions also include segments on Auslan signing and songs from other cultures.
Alternate weeks, our Playgroup Coordinator/s offer a craft activity.
